Avenue Tennis Club Coach gives Berrow School more
Monday, June 22, 2009 10:25Avenue Tennis Coach, Barry Ramsden has been going to Berrow School and doing the After School Tennis Club for some years now and took it upon himself to give the kids some more tuition in order to prepare them for the Junior Schools Cup which take place at the Avenue Tennis Club on June 17th. Barry had the 4 Berrow team members down at the club on Saturday afternoon to give them some extra training taking them through scoring and some match play.
Avenue Head Coach Vinny Duddy started up the Junior Tennis Cup in October last year with the objective of getting the schools to nominate their talented players and allow them to come to the Avenue Tennis Club and play in a competition against other Burnham Junior Schools. The cup was won by St Josephs of last year.
The next Centenary Event will be run on 30th May, which is FA Cup Final Day, when an Adult and Junior Tennis Tournament will be run prior to watching the big match at the Tennis Club.
Tony Pryce Sports Shop in Taunton will be at the Avenue tennis Club, 6:30 on the 5th June to give members and anyone who wants to attend the opportunity to try out some of this year’s new tennis rackets – all are welcome to attend and try them out.
The Avenue Tennis Club is a friendly, family oriented organisation whose members enjoy excellent facilities with 8 floodlit courts and a large clubhouse including bar facilities. Friday nights is family night where members and non members are encouraged to come down to either the adult coaching or club doubles match play. Junior members enjoy free organised fun tennis sessions for up to school year 3 from 6:30pm till 7:30pm, school year 4 and upwards from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.
