Avenue Tennis Club Head Coach, Vinny Duddy and Craig Phillips visited 4 more junior schools in Burnham as part of their efforts to promote tennis in the area.  Tuesday saw them at Brent Knoll where they used the Brent Knoll Tennis Courts, Wednesday they were at East and West Huntspill, with a visit to East Brent on Thursday.  They took all the classes at the schools through a programme of fun games designed to teach some basic tennis sending and receiving skills with the younger children to Ghost in the Graveyard and Exterminator for the older classes.  Duddy said – we had really fantastic weather and as usual a great response from the children who all wanted to play and learn some more about tennis. 

Duddy said we do classes for all age groups from 6 to 66 but following the school visits believes the club has a shortfall in their programme for Reception and Year Group 1 (4 to 6 year olds).  Duddy will be starting a Saturday morning session from 10:00 till 11:00 am (23^rd Jun) which will be aimed at this age group and believes that all the racket ball skills, coordination exercises and fun games will benefit all this age group for all their future sports development be it football, cricket, rugby, etc..  If you would like some more details regarding this session please contact Vinny or Craig at the Tennis Club (01278 782758).

A junior holiday tennis club will also be held, at the Avenue Tennis Club,  on 6^th till 8^th Jun from 9:00 to 4:00pm where LTA qualified and licensed coaches will teach tennis through some fun games, drills and matches; contact the club for details (01278 782758) or see the website www.avenuetennis.com.
