Pictured with Avenue Tennis Club Coach, Barry Ramsden, is Mason Parker, Joe and Daniel Rosser who all competed in the Annual Road to Wimbledon Competition where Under 14’s from all around the country compete at local clubs, before going on to regional finals and then eventually to Wimbledon itself.  The competition was won by Daniel Rosser who now goes onto Taunton to play in the Somerset Regional Finals.  Head Coach, Vinny Duddy, said that all three players, who come from the Avenue’s Junior Tennis Academy, played some fantastic tennis in probably the hottest day of the year so far, during the hottest time of the day and showed some great skill, sportsmanship and commitment to win. 

Duddy was keen to remind parents that he will be starting a NEW TENNIS TOTS session on a Saturday morning for 4 and 5 year olds from 10:00 till 11:00 am on 23^rd Jun, the weekend before Wimbledon starts.  Duddy said we already have sessions for 6 + year olds on a Saturday from 9 till 10 but following the success and interest shown at the local junior school visits he is certain that there is a need to teach some basic racket ball skills and coordination exercises through fun games and drills.  He said that the session will compliment/improve on what gets taught within the schools who find it difficult to spend a lot of time teaching some basic physical skills at this very important and influential time of life for sporting development.  He believes that the coaching fun will benefit all this age group for all their future sports development be it football, cricket, rugby, etc..

The club run a variety of Adult social play sessions during the week on Wed and Fri evenings or Tue, Thur and Sund Morning.  Coaching is available for juniors every night of the week and for adults on Thu, Fri and Saturday afternoons.  If you would like to private 1 to 1 coaching this can be organised throught the clubs coaches.  Details of the events and tennis coaching courses held at the Avenue Tennis Club can be obtained from the office (01278 782758) or from the club website (www.avenuetennis.com).
