Centenary FA Cup Final Tournament May 2009

FA Cup Final Day saw the Avenue Tennis Club organise a fun social junior and adult tennis tournament.  The event took place from 12:00 and finished just before the kick off with only the finalists missing the early goal from Everton as they were still out on court completing the competition.

The eventual winners of the competition were Rhiannon Parsons and Steve Perry who beat Charlie Lee and Paul Kelson, both of whom had won through their individual boxes of 8 and 7 teams respectively.

Head coach Vinny Duddy wanted to thank the ladies Jane Sanders, Julie Cameron and Carol Davies for their hard work and efforts in the kitchen in the searing heat.  A special thanks to Colin Stead who took over the scoring and scheduling of games and did a wonderful job.

The next major event at the Tennis Club will be the Annual Open Day on the 5th July, starting around 11:00 am.  The day will be attended by Tony Pryce Sports, Prince Rackets Demonstration team and the Lucozade Sports Science Team.  There will be free coaching and fun games for all the family, the bar will be open serving hot and cold drinks, food will be available together with Strawberries, Cream and Pimms which will be served during the Wimbledon Men’s Final which will be shown on large screen in the Tennis club.
