First centenary Event 09
Sunday, February 15, 2009 8:20The first event celebrating the Centenary of the Avenue Tennis clubs existence was attended by a variety of previous Club Presidents, Captains, Secretaries and other officials on Saturday 14th Feb 09. The evening was well attended and a big vote of thanks goes to Poo Jenkins, Jane Sanders, Julie Cameron and Sally Christison for organising the buffet meal.
During March, Vinny and Trainee Coach, Craig Phillips will be visiting junior schools in the local area to provide Tennis Taster sessions at the schools. So far the following schools signed up for this free day of coaching are East Brent, Brent Knoll, Berrow, Beechfield and East Huntspill.
The next Centenary Event will be on Sunday 15th March when a social tournament will be held between 12:00 and 3:00 pm before the England v France Six Nations Match which will be shown on a large screen in the tennis club. The next event will be on Saturday March 21st and will be themed on St Patricks Night. Further details and a diary of events planned are on the club’s website www.avenuetennis.co.uk. The Avenue Tennis Club is a friendly, family oriented organisation whose members enjoy excellent facilities with 8 floodlit courts and a large clubhouse including bar facilities. Friday nights is family night where members and non members are encouraged to come down to either the adult coaching or club doubles match play. Junior members enjoy free organised fun tennis sessions for up to school year 3 from 6:30pm till 7:30pm, school year 4 and upwards from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. School year 7+ members have organised match-play from 8:00pm.
