Ian’s Sunday Service – 3 Mar 19

Ian’s Sunday Service 3rd Mar 19

Despite the severe weather warnings surrounding Storm Freya 10 hardy tennis players braved the conditions to take part in Ian’s Sunday Service, a fun mixed doubles tennis competition ran by Ian Howard of the Avenue Tennis Club.  The winners were Ange Tinnion and Richard Belfield who are both featured in the group photo above of all the players who took part.  The next Sunday Service will be held on Sunday 14th April and all are invited to come along and have some competitive fun at the Avenue Tennis Club whilst meeting some new friends.

The club are currently having 3 of the 8 tennis courts resurfaced and expect these to be fully available in April.  They are keen to invite new members to the club and believe that the offer of a month’s free membership for anyone who wants to give tennis a go and wants to get an insight into the club before joining is a good deal.  Qualified coaches provide coaching throughout the week for all ages and abilities.  Membership of the club allows you access to play on 1 of the 8 floodlit courts (4 Astra turfed and 4 Tarmacadan), together with access to a fantastic clubhouse with a well-stocked bar, wi-fi and superb changing facilities for all; details of other benefits and discount associated with being a club member can be found on the website www.avenuetennis.com.  The club has organised social and competitive tennis on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, together with a variety of subsidised coaching sessions for juniors or adults and Vinny Minis on a Friday evening – free to junior members.  They have ladies and men’s teams that compete in the North Somerset Tennis Leagues during the winter and summer months.

As well as tennis, the club runs several other social events B-B-Q’s, Wednesday evening suppers, 2 Bridge Clubs and a variety of other lunches and events. It is also the venue for Music with Mummy, with Sarah Coles, who provides musical fun structured sessions for parents with young children, from 1 to 5 years old, aimed at encouraging a range of listening and social skills, throughout the week Monday to Thursday.  Avenue Tennis Club – more than just a tennis club – visit our website or facebook page for details.
